For centuries Krakow was the capital of Poland, the seat of kings. Having escaped the worst of WWII bombing, Krakow kept its old world charm and is considered one of the prettiest European cities. Krakow is the second largest city in Poland but undisputably first choice when it comes to tourism. In the year 2000 the city was honored the title of the European Capital of Culture. Its unique combination of art, architecture and vibrant atmosphere made it one of the top destinations in Eastern Europe and the city’s popularity is constantly growing. Described as „the second Prague“ and barely even a few years ago, Krakow has now achieved its well-deserved place and was chosen by Orbitz Insider one of the 2007 top destination. Despite being famous for its cultural and historical treasures, Krakow is nothing but a dusty heritage park and it’s the city’s people who are its real asset. Several thousands students made it their home adding young vibe, energy and a few hundreds bars and clubs to Krakow’s scene. According to BBC research Krakow is also the second after the capital visited on business but foreigners and positive movements in investment sector have been recently observed. So come, invest if you like, admiring the beauty of the town and party with style!
John Paul II International Airport Krakow-Balice is the second busiest airport in the country after the Warsaw Frederic Chopin Airport. The Krakow Balice Airport serves mostly Krakow and Southern Poland. The airport situated about 11 km from Krakow’s city center provides a well-developed network of connections with all major Polish cities and with many major cities in Central Europe. There is one international and one domestic terminal located there but with its growing capacity the airport is currently being expanded.
